Hi, I'm Mazen
[Sr. Software Engineer] ~ [NL @ Earth]
I have been writing code since 2011, which means I have spent over 15 years figuring out exactly how to make backend systems run smoothly with attention to developer experience in the code I write.
My daily work revolves around backend infrastructure, database optimization, and building tools that make developers' lives easier. I like looking under the hood of frameworks and figuring out the best technical trade-offs for complex applications.
When I am not in front of my laptop, you can usually find me sipping an espresso, cooking something delicious, hitting the gym, or driving aimlessly.
Currently, I am a Staff Backend Engineer at Studeersnel B.V., mainly focused on the payments system.
Working with me
I also take on select freelance engagements/projects. I focus on two main areas: building new products from the ground up and fixing existing systems that have outgrown their original design.
New Project
If you are launching a new project, I can design and build your system from scratch. I set up a clean, reliable architecture for you future team.
I'm constantly conscious and intentional about what I use to solve the problems in hand. I implement exactly what your project needs without an overkill.
My focus from day one is long-term maintenance, quality, and performance. Ensuring your application stays fast as your user-base grows.
Existent Project
If you already have a product but it is starting to struggle, I can step in to find and fix the issues.
I specialize in finding the root cause of slow performance, database bottlenecks, and high latency.
Whether you need to refactor a complex codebase or improve the existent codebase, I can help your move fast again.
